The Folkmoot USA parade today in Waynesville NC was very hot, but full of appreciative eyes as the Folkmoot dancers performed this afternoon. Folkmoot USA Coming this Thursday July 22nd

The Folkmoot Festival is back again! Coming this Thursday July 22nd through August 1st the festival moves into the Western NC area. The festival is a two week celebration of the world’s cultural heritage represented through folk music and dance. With over 350 performers demonstrating their heritage through traditional dance and music in colorful authentic reproduction costumes. While throughout the history of this event over 200 cultural groups from over 100 different countries have attended the ceremonies, countries invited to attend this year include: Russia, Latvia, Jordan, Portugal, Poland, Turkey, India, UK, France, and Switzerland.

Folkmoot USA coming in July

The Folkmoot Festival is back again! Coming this July through August the festival moves into the Western NC area. The festival is a two week celebration of the world’s cultural heritage represented through folk music and dance. With over 350 performers demonstrating their heritage through traditional dance and music in colorful authentic reproduction costumes. While throughout the history of this event over 200 cultural groups from over 100 different countries have attended the ceremonies.

Also, coming new this year for the first time is the Pirate’s Ball. Guests are encouraged to grab their eye patches, bandannas, swords, boots and earrings to enjoy the Caribbean Celebration to be held on Friday, May 7 2010. Don’t forget to buy your tickets now or even join them for an ice cream social on Sunday May 16, 2010, should you want to volunteer and enjoy all two weeks of the celebration.
